🍼 Baby bottle amounts: how much milk by age
Bottle amounts vary; a fixed age chart is not a prescription.
Guide to bottle amounts by age
1. What to prepare
Follow hunger and fullness cues, use paced feeding and never force baby to finish. Mix formula exactly as directed for that product.
2. What to check
Monitor wet nappies and growth with your healthcare team. Seek help for poor intake or persistent vomiting; never add extra powder or water to change intake.
3. In South Africa
Ask your clinic to demonstrate safe formula preparation for the exact product, including safe water, clean equipment and exact mixing. Plan for water interruptions and power cuts; do not keep milk in a fridge that has lost safe temperature. If a parent has HIV, follow the current prevention-of-vertical-transmission and feeding plan with ART support; do not stop breastfeeding or switch feeds on this guide’s advice.
