🍼 Measuring and prepping a baby bottle
Always follow the formula container’s exact water-to-powder instructions.
Gear You'll Need
- Clean sterilised bottle and teat
- Safe water
- Age-appropriate formula and its own scoop
Step-by-Step
1. Clean and measure
Use safe water and follow CDC and the label. Powder is not sterile; babies younger than two months, born prematurely or immunocompromised need extra precautions. Discuss sterile ready-to-feed formula and CDC hot-water preparation precautions with a clinician.
2. Water first
Measure the specified water first, then add only the supplied level scoop in the exact ratio on that container. Do not equate a scoop with a universal volume. Use mL markings; 1 US fl oz is approximately 29.6 mL, not an exact 30 mL.
3. Serve and discard
Never microwave. Cool hot-prepared formula safely and check feeding temperature. Prepare fresh where possible and discard leftovers after feeding; follow the local authority and label for storage limits.
