🌍 Culture & inspiration · For all dads
🌍 How do you say dad around the world?
Families use many words for fathers and caregivers.
Four stops around the world
1. What to prepare
Ask people which name and pronunciation they prefer; use the terms chosen by your own family.
2. What to check
Do not infer language, gender, legal parentage or cultural identity from a nickname. A term of affection does not establish legal rights.
3. In Singapore
Mummy, daddy, nappies/nappies, cot, pram/stroller and polyclinic are familiar terms, but household languages and names differ. Confinement practices are family choices, not medical requirements; do not delay feeding, washing or urgent care to follow a custom.
