💼 Gear & logistics · From month 5–6 of pregnancy

🎁 The baby registry

A baby registry is an optional shared list that helps people choose gifts you will actually use. Build it around your household's space, budget, transport and feeding plans—not a checklist of everything sold for babies.

Offer choices at different budgets

  • Lower-cost ideas: washcloths, bibs, a digital thermometer and a small selection of baby clothes.
  • Mid-range ideas: a washable play mat, diaper bag or suitable lightweight sleep sack.
  • Larger shared gifts: a safe crib, suitable car seat or stroller. Set prices in Philippine pesos after checking current local costs.

Build a useful list

  1. 1. Choose your own timing

Starting around month five or six gives you time to compare options, but no scan or particular pregnancy milestone is required. Share the list when you feel comfortable.

  2. 2. Keep the format accessible

Use a shared document, a local store list or a platform that actually serves your delivery address. Check delivery charges, returns, stock and whether gift purchases can be marked off to avoid duplicates.

  3. 3. Make contributions optional

If you want pooled gifts, explain the goal and use a payment method you trust. Check fees and privacy settings, and share payment details privately. A meal, errand or no gift at all should be equally welcome.

  4. 4. Spread clothing sizes

Include a modest amount of newborn clothing plus larger sizes. Babies grow at different rates, and brand sizing varies. Choose fabrics and layers suited to your home rather than buying only heavy outfits.

  5. 5. Research the important gear

Check dimensions, product instructions, recalls and compatibility with your vehicle or living space. Avoid crib pillows, bumpers, sleep positioners and weighted sleep products. For a used car seat, you need a trustworthy history and all required parts.

  6. 6. Leave room for changing needs

Avoid stockpiling one diaper size or feeding product before you know what suits your baby. Practical support for either parent can go on the list too; do not assume any shop offers a completion discount.
