🪜 Preventing falls at home
A baby just a few months old can roll off the sofa or the changing table in a split second.
Real talk
- Lay out the nappy, wipes, and fresh outfit on the changing mat before you put baby down. Nothing should ever make you turn your back.
Essential reflexes
1. Changing table
Always keep one hand firmly on baby. If you need to step away, pick them up and bring them with you.
2. High chair
Strap them in every single time: crotch strap and full harness securely fastened.
3. Stairs
Fit safety-approved stair gates at both the top and the bottom of the stairs.
4. Windows & balconies
Never place furniture, chairs, or toy chests under a window. Install window safety locks or restrictors.
5. Local guidance
Choose locally compliant equipment and check recalls. Use a hardware-mounted gate at the top of stairs; pressure-mounted gates are not suitable there. Anchor tip-prone furniture and TVs; a corner bumper is not a substitute for anchoring.
